W03n0024_p0054a06║  《大乘起世論》,中國佛教禪宗僧人所撰典籍,作者不詳,一
W03n0024_p0054a07║卷。
W03n0024_p0054a08║  本文獻以自設問答的形式,論述了禪宗修持諸多要義。前有
W03n0024_p0054a09║序文,後有結偈。作者認為真諦之門幽秘,即使聖者也難以知曉,
W03n0024_p0054a10║必須行者本人親證。主張先須安心,並要善於發現與親近善知
W03n0024_p0054a11║識。如果不能得遇善知識,則難以證知真諦實相。主張修行者必
W03n0024_p0054a12║須不起分別智,不起一念,不見一物,但又反對不作一事,不為一
W03n0024_p0054a13║事的枯禪,主張行住坐臥,隨時都在禪中。問答部分的結尾,以機
W03n0024_p0054a14║鋒的形式,啟導學人不要執泥於語言文字。本文獻無論從思想
W03n0024_p0054a15║上,還是從總體風格上,都帶有濃重的禪宗南宗色彩,應屬於慧能

W03n0024_p0054a17║  根據現有資料,本文獻在敦煌遺書中僅有一號,抄寫在伯
W03n0024_p0054a18║2039號背面。同件所抄者還有《五辛經》等禪宗文獻多篇(參見
W03n0024_p0054a19║《菩薩總持法》題解),抄寫年代約為公元九世紀上半葉。首題作
W03n0024_p0054a20║「大乘寄世論」,序文中述及本文獻名稱時作「大乘奇世論」,但尾
W03n0024_p0054a21║題作「大乘起世論」。恐以「大乘起世論」之名為正。
W03n0024_p0054a22║  本文獻未為歷代經錄所著錄,亦未為歷代大藏經所收。是研
W03n0024_p0054a23║究初期禪宗的重要資料。

W03n0024_p0055a07║世智辯聰而不知者;亦有慈悲喜捨而不知者;亦有禪定智

W03n0024_p0058a10║  問:既原來無妄,令人斷何物而求道?
W03n0024_p0058a11║  答:不斷一物,無道可求。
W03n0024_p0058a12║  問:既無道可求,無物可斷,云何經文說斷妄想?

W03n0024_p0058a14║  問:經文現說斷妄想!
W03n0024_p0058a15║  答:說斷妄想者,眾生自有妄想。世尊隨眾生說妄
W03n0024_p0058a16║想,世尊實不說妄。譬如良醫,對病說藥;若無病,不說

W03n0024_p0058a18║  問:世尊既原不說妄想,其妄想阿誰造作?
W03n0024_p0058a19║  答:眾生自造作。
W03n0024_p0058a20║  問:何為不造作正智?何為造作妄想?
W03n0024_p0058a21║  答:不識正智,即有妄想。若識正智,即無妄想。
W03n0024_p0059a01║  問:既有正智,即合有妄想。何事說無妄想?
W03n0024_p0059a02║  答:眾生實原無妄想。
W03n0024_p0059a03║  問:既無妄想,即無凡聖?
W03n0024_p0059a04║  答:有凡聖。

W03n0024_p0059a07║  問:若分別是凡,不分別是聖,可不易?如嬰兒,亦不

W03n0024_p0059a09║  答:你若起此意,大罪過人。如嬰兒幼稚,不識好
W03n0024_p0059a10║惡;如癡人,不識尊卑。豈得是不分別?會須於真如現

W03n0024_p0059a12║  問:作何物生,是不分別智?
W03n0024_p0059a13║  答:你但看心起處,即須覺知心從本以來清淨,不被
W03n0024_p0059a14║外緣染,見因緣性空。因緣不空,世間參羅萬像,君臣父
W03n0024_p0059a15║母,仁義禮智信總不空。是世法,不得壞。若壞,是凡
W03n0024_p0059a16║夫人,是生死人。知眾緣之中,各各無主,和合之時,亦無
W03n0024_p0059a17║主立,體不可得,即是見性人。於分別中得分別智。常行
W03n0024_p0059a18║分別得不分別,此是不壞世法,得第一義;不壞
W03n0024_p0059a19║威儀,得第一義。
W03n0024_p0059a20║  問:云何不壞威儀,得第一義?願一切示其要。
W03n0024_p0060a01║  答:《維摩經》云:「常求無念實想智慧,於世間法少欲
W03n0024_p0060a02║知足,於出世間法求之無厭。不壞威儀而能隨俗。起神
W03n0024_p0060a03║通慧,引導眾生。」此是妙印。我示你其要。
W03n0024_p0060a04║  問:《維摩經》說「常求無念實相」,何為經說布
W03n0024_p0060a05║施、持戒、人天之福?即是有念說法因緣。何令一切
W03n0024_p0060a06║學者狐疑不信?願示之。
W03n0024_p0060a07║  答:你莫不信,你莫不解事。佛說布施、持戒、人天之
W03n0024_p0060a08║福,為眾生在妄想,世尊說妄想法。人天之福是方便,非
W03n0024_p0060a09║究竟門。你若不信,我與你引經。《法華》云:「我此九部
W03n0024_p0060a10║法,隨順眾生說。入大乘為本。」又云:「十方佛土中,唯有
W03n0024_p0060a11║一乘法。」又云:「但以假名字,引導於眾生。」又云:「終不
W03n0024_p0060a12║以小乘,濟度於眾生。」又云:「勿親近小乘三藏學者。」又
W03n0024_p0060a13║云:「唯此一事實,餘二即非真。」《諸法無行》云:「若人分
W03n0024_p0060a14║別戒,是則無有戒。若有見戒者,是即為失戒。」明諸佛說
W03n0024_p0060a15║究竟門,不說人天。說人天者方便,引眾生令入佛慧。過
W03n0024_p0060a16║去、現在聖人說心得自在,說心得解脫,心得聖。此是三
W03n0024_p0060a17║世諸佛印,破汝疑,須知之。
W03n0024_p0060a18║  問:諸佛若說一乘,教化眾生,如今總得悟盡,何須說
W03n0024_p0060a19║三乘,惑亂眾生,豈不罪過耶?
W03n0024_p0060a20║  答:你莫起此意。諸佛大慈悲故,緣眾生落三惡道者
W03n0024_p0060a21║眾,所以開方便門。說六波羅密,說人天三乘,一不罪過。
W03n0024_p0061a01║  問:若不罪過,與我分析六波羅密。
W03n0024_p0061a02║  答:六波羅密,布施、持戒、忍辱,行此三事,離三惡
W03n0024_p0061a03║道,人天往來。精進、禪定、智慧,修此三事,離生死苦,當

W03n0024_p0061a05║  問:過去諸佛說三乘?為當現在諸佛說三乘?為當

W03n0024_p0061a07║  答:過去、現在、未來諸佛總說。

W03n0024_p0061a09║  答:《法花》云:「若但贊一乘,眾生沒在苦,不能信是
W03n0024_p0061a10║破法。不信故,墮於三惡道。我寧不說法三乘?」明過去
W03n0024_p0061a11║諸佛,並說三乘,引眾生,令入一乘。
W03n0024_p0061a12║  問:何者是一乘?
W03n0024_p0061a13║  答:心是一乘。
W03n0024_p0061a14║  問:云何心是一乘?
W03n0024_p0061a15║  答:了見心空無所有,是一乘。
W03n0024_p0061a16║  問:了見心空無所有是一乘,得聖耶?

W03n0024_p0062a08║  答:在凡有數種心,在聖唯有一。

W03n0024_p0062a10║  答:凡心起種種邪見,聖心原不動。
W03n0024_p0062a11║  問:何者是凡心?何者是聖心?
W03n0024_p0062a12║  答:取想是凡心,離想是聖心。
W03n0024_p0062a13║  問:取想心故不取心以想,願示其要。
W03n0024_p0062a14║  答:一切修學學者,見來去心、見長短心、見好惡
W03n0024_p0062a15║心、見憎愛心、見瞋喜心、見邪正心、見凡聖心、見自
W03n0024_p0062a16║在心、見不自在心、見涅槃解脫心、見佛菩薩心、見究竟
W03n0024_p0062a17║心、見知解不知解心。如此種種心,並是凡心、妄想心。
W03n0024_p0062a18║  問:云何是聖人心?
W03n0024_p0062a19║  答:不起一念,不見一物。都無如許心,是聖人心。
W03n0024_p0062a20║  問:汝得聖人心耶?
W03n0024_p0062a21║  答:我不得聖人心。
W03n0024_p0063a01║  問:既不得聖人心,云何知「都無如許,是聖人心」?
W03n0024_p0063a02║  答:我語你道「得聖人心」,我即是罪過人,即是顛倒
W03n0024_p0063a03║人。
W03n0024_p0063a04║  問:你語我道「得聖人心」,即是罪過人;你不語我道
W03n0024_p0063a05║「得聖人心」,豈亦不是罪過人耶?
W03n0024_p0063a06║  答:我不語你道「得聖人心」,即無罪過。
W03n0024_p0063a07║  問:云何道得聖人心,即罪過;道不得,即無罪過?
W03n0024_p0063a08║  答:聖人心無得,所以知無罪過。

W03n0024_p0063a10║  答:《維摩經》云:「若有得有證,即於佛法為增上慢。」
W03n0024_p0063a11║是以知聖人心無得。《金剛》云:「過去、現在、未來心,三
W03n0024_p0063a12║世俱不可得,」是聖人心。又云:「無有少法可得,是名阿
W03n0024_p0063a13║耨多羅三藐三菩提。」《般若》云:「以無所得故,菩提薩
W03n0024_p0063a14║埵。」
W03n0024_p0063a15║  問:可得是何心?
W03n0024_p0063a16║  答:是凡心。
W03n0024_p0063a17║  問:既不可得心是聖,一切聖人有何知解?
W03n0024_p0063a18║  答:聖人實不立知解。
W03n0024_p0063a19║  問:既不立知解,云何稱有三世諸佛?有究竟涅槃?
W03n0024_p0063a20║有常樂我淨?有解脫方便?
W03n0024_p0063a21║  答:為不立知解,即得究竟涅槃,解脫方便。若立知

W03n0024_p0063a23║  問:立知解即不得究竟涅槃、解脫方便,不立知解卻

W03n0024_p0064a02║  答:不顛倒。

W03n0024_p0064a04║  答:你有所得心,即有顛倒;無所得心,即無顛倒。

W03n0024_p0064a06║  答:修學人總有所得。
W03n0024_p0064a07║  問:既有所得,是合道耶?是不合道耶?
W03n0024_p0064a08║  答:有所得即不合道。
W03n0024_p0064a09║  問:有所得即不合道,云何三大阿僧祇劫修萬行,
W03n0024_p0064a10║得涅槃?
W03n0024_p0064a11║  答:若道三大阿僧祇劫修涅槃樂,即是誑惑你,即是
W03n0024_p0064a12║下脫你,即是嫌你,我是慢語人。實無修得。莫起
W03n0024_p0064a13║癡心,莫起狐媚心,莫起希望心。若於佛法中起毫毛心,
W03n0024_p0064a14║總是妄想顛倒心。若見證見聖,即是見鬼人。但莫起
W03n0024_p0064a15║心,我即憐你,我將接你到涅槃樂。
W03n0024_p0064a16║  問:過去諸佛總不起心,得涅槃,為當獨自教我不起

W03n0024_p0064a18║  答:過去諸佛總不起心,得涅槃。
W03n0024_p0064a19║  問:云何得知?
W03n0024_p0064a20║  答:《文殊般若》云:「無知無解是佛所知。」此是法印,
W03n0024_p0064a21║豈虛言哉!無知,煩惱障斷;無解,所知障除。二障既除,
W03n0024_p0065a01║法我俱空。若立知立解,見好見惡,見青見黃、赤、白,即
W03n0024_p0065a02║流浪生死,作凡夫人,不得自在。但不立知解,不見一物,
W03n0024_p0065a03║即是了事人,即是有精神人,真大夫,出三界外,得如如
W03n0024_p0065a04║心。
W03n0024_p0065a05║  問:不立知解,不見一物。此即是究竟法?非究竟

W03n0024_p0065a07║  答:此是究竟法。
W03n0024_p0065a08║  問:究竟法無本,阿誰知?無本,阿誰解?
W03n0024_p0065a09║  答:無本是佛知,無本是佛解。

W03n0024_p0065a16║  答:向佛邊得。
W03n0024_p0065a17║  問:向阿那佛邊得?
W03n0024_p0065a18║  答:向如如佛邊得。

W03n0024_p0065a20║  答:如如佛遍法界。
W03n0024_p0065a21║  問:如如佛既遍法界,云何眾生不見?

W03n0024_p0066a08║  答:無先後。佛與法一時起。

W03n0024_p0066a10║  答:一切法無先後。如仰與覆,如拳與手,如醉與醒,

W03n0024_p0066a12║  問:若道一切法無先後、無來,亦無佛、亦無法。
W03n0024_p0066a13║  答:阿誰語你道有佛?阿誰語你道有法?
W03n0024_p0066a14║  問:若無佛無法,云何經文遣我久受勤苦,乃可得成?
W03n0024_p0066a15║  答:經文為你在凡二乘,不達佛性,遣你會三歸
W03n0024_p0066a16║一,所以語你道「久受勤苦」。若達佛性,即達性空;若達
W03n0024_p0066a17║性空,即是歸一;若達歸一,即名一時。更不勞你久受勤
W03n0024_p0066a18║苦。
W03n0024_p0066a19║  問:若遣我歸一,還與我作障礙。
W03n0024_p0066a20║  答:你不須愁,你莫作障礙。但達佛性,即是歸一。
W03n0024_p0066a21║經云:「十方佛土中,唯有一乘法,無二亦無三,」合一亦不
W03n0024_p0067a01║立。此是法印。你何須強立一?不關你事!《維摩
W03n0024_p0067a02║經》云:「從無住本,立一切法。」又云:「菩提者,不可以身
W03n0024_p0067a03║得,不可以心得。」寂滅是菩提。
W03n0024_p0067a04║  問:身又不得,心又不得。何須比來,漫受辛苦!
W03n0024_p0067a05║  答:你今日大解事。我觀你比來常立睡,如今始覺

W03n0024_p0067a07║  問:我今日以後,不作一事,不為一事,得不得?
W03n0024_p0067a08║  答:你若一事不作,一事不為,是牆壁木石。
W03n0024_p0067a09║  答:你但覺性從本以來,清淨無染,無取無捨,無好
W03n0024_p0067a10║無惡,無是無非。身共世間種種同心,不染世間,即
W03n0024_p0067a11║是寂滅人、得心人。行住坐臥,所作所為,都無滯礙。

W03n0024_p0067a13║  答:你若依我見解,即是蟲蛆漢子,我即禮遇你。

W03n0024_p0067a19║  答:《諸法無行經》云:「常處無為空寂行,恆沙佛藏一
W03n0024_p0068a01║念了。」此是諸佛菩薩真語、實語、如語、不誑語。此是印

W03n0024_p0068a03║  問:實有心可印?實無心可印?
W03n0024_p0068a04║  答:若有心可印,即是凡夫;若無心可印,即是外道
W03n0024_p0068a05║斷見人;若見非有非無心可印,即聲聞人;若見不有不無
W03n0024_p0068a06║心可印,即是緣覺人。《般若順中論》云:「迦葉見有,著常
W03n0024_p0068a07║見,即是斷見。」是故,黠慧者不依止有無。又云:「迦
W03n0024_p0068a08║葉有是一邊,無是一邊,中者非有非無,以無處所。」此義
W03n0024_p0068a09║應知,明過去、未來、現在三世諸佛得虛無心。住有亦不
W03n0024_p0068a10║得,住無亦不得,住非有非無亦不得,住不有不無亦不得。
